Ep 142. How to Get Your Clients to Market For You

How do you do the bulk of your marketing in your business? Is it all through your own efforts? Do you ever have clients referring you and doing some of that heavy lifting for you?
I recently got a question submitted through the recording option on my website that I thought would be such a good podcast deep-dive for one of my Ask Ashley shows! Miranda, a listener of the show, asked this: “I would love, love love to hear about having an ideal client experience that results in rinse and repeat clients or life-long clients where you're just offering this perfect and wonderful experience for your clients. So much so that you don't have to put all of, or really any more, marketing into getting new clients, but that your current clients do that enough for you.”

On one hand, you love it, and it seems like such a great way to connect with people and get your voice out in the world and show your beautiful photography. But then on the flip side, it's just so aggravating the amount of time that you spend pouring into content only to get a few likes, and maybe a comment or two, if you're lucky.
If you're anything like me, I have been feeling this pull in this struggle for many, many years. I have finally come to the end of my rope where I feel like I am ready to finally quit Instagram.

Because when someone uses a photographer that they love, they want to share that person with everyone that they meet.
 
But why is it that we know how important relationships are, yet we underutilize this strategy? We spend so much of our marketing efforts on social media, or in Facebook groups, just praying and spraying content and posting our link and just hoping that someone hires us.
